Debra K. Knauss, RN, LCDC
Chief Executive Officer/ Owner
Debra K. Knauss, RN, LCDC, serves as the Chief Executive Officer of Touchstone Ranch Recovery Center. With over 30 years of experience in healthcare and behavioral healthcare, Debbie has an exceptional approach to a collaborative partnership with the entire treatment team in the best interest of each and every client. Debbie attended Kansas State University, Northern Oklahoma College and Houston Community College. She holds a degree in Applied Science.
Debbie has a heartfelt passion for working with families affected by substance use disorder. Her mantra of “whatever it takes” transcends through her daily work with the staff, clients and families of Touchstone. She implemented a three-day experiential “Family Program” which is truly memorable and life changing.
Debbie is an internationally recognized television guest and public speaker, taking the message of hope and healing to her audiences. As a preferred interventionist for The Dr. Phil Show, The Doctors, and Co-Star of Cracking Addiction; she has been able to bring awareness and illicit change within the recovery industry.
Douglas E. Knauss
Chief Financial Officer/ Owner
Doug is the Chief Financial Officer of Touchstone Ranch Recovery Center. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Kansas State University.
Doug brings to Touchstone over 30 years of international and domestic experience with several Fortune 100 companies. Doug’s background includes business development, operational effectiveness and utilization of technology. Doug has been actively involved in the addiction and mental health industries for over 10 years. He is currently certified as an Anger Management Resolution Therapist with The Center for Anger Resolution and has experience with the leading behavior intervention models.
Albert J. Turk, M.D.
Dr. Turk is board-certified in Family Practice and serves as the Medical Director of Touchstone Ranch Recovery Center. He compassionately takes care of the medical needs of the clients. He graduated from Texas Tech University School of Medicine, Lubbock, Texas and from Texas A&M University with a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry in 1987. Dr. Turk first became interested in medicine during summer visits to see his uncle who was a small town physician. Dr. Turk decided he too wanted to pursue medicine and serve the medical needs of a small town community.
Director of Operations/ Clinical Team
Ricki was born and raised in San Antonio, Texas. She relocated to Stephenville in 1998 because of her appreciation for the small town, community atmosphere. Ricki has a sincere passion for helping others and considers her opportunity to work at Touchstone Ranch Recovery Center a blessing and a privilege. As a woman in long term recovery, she believes the events of her life have prepared her to be of service in the field of behavioral health. Ricki began working for Touchstone Ranch Recovery Center in July 2010 and has served in areas of marketing, admissions, and counseling.
Shelley Turk, RN
Shelley is a board-certified Nurse Practitioner. She graduated from Midwestern State University in Wichita Falls where she received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing. Shelley became very familiar with the medical field as a Registered Nurse. In 2011, she went back to school to receive her Master’s degree in Family Nurse Practitioner from the University of Texas in Arlington. Shelley has enjoyed working with the individuals at Touchstone Ranch Recovery Center, and has been a key factor as they transition from detox into a healthy being. Her passion to help others maintain achievable health, has made her an irreplaceable asset at the Ranch.
Suzan Ladd, LVN
Suzan grew up in Meridian, Texas. With over 30 years of experience in the medical field paired with the exemplary education she received at Texas Wesleyan College and Ranger College, Suzan holds the position of Nurse Supervisor to a high standard. She believes that that small, family feel of the community is an unmatched experience. Being able to watch individuals conquer their fears to maintain a healthier lifestyle has helped Suzan appreciative of the miracles worked at Touchstone Ranch Recovery Center.
In her free time, Suzan loves playing the piano, scrapbooking, needlework, and spending time with her family.
Nonie Casselman- Reed, M.Ed., LCDC
Nonie graduated from New Mexico State University with a Bachelor of Agriculture Economics and went on to obtain her Masters of Education from Tarleton State University. By the grace of God and through the 12 steps she has been sober since January 24, 1986. Nonie has been a LCDC since 1991. She participated in several Virginia Satir training seminars, using experiential learning in the family system. Nonie became certified in Equine Assisted Psychotherapy and is a member of The Equine Assisted Growth and Learning Association as an associate of EAGALA in July, 2010.
Cassandra Hanna, LMSW, LCDC
Cassandra is no stranger to the behavioral health world, as she has worked in the field for over 20 years. During this time, she has had hands on experience in youth criminal justice, youth at-risk program, mental health, psychiatric hospital, and both outpatient and residential substance disorder treatment.
Cassandra received her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Criminal Justice in 1996 form West Texas A&M University, and her Master’s in Social Work in 2003 from the University of Texas at Arlington. She is married with two wonderful boys.
Derek was born and raised in Ada, Oklahoma. He served in the United States Coast Guard until 2001.
Derek had a strong desire to enter the addictions field after going through his own struggles to maintain sobriety. He has been in recovery since February 22, 2014. Derek received his Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor certificate from Weatherford College in 2015, and is currently working on his Bachelor of Science degree in Sociology with an emphasis in Social Work from Grand Canyon University.
As an active member in 12-step groups, Derek believes that recovery is completely achievable if one has the desire. His favorite part about working at Touchstone is that he loves helping other individuals with addiction figure out how sobriety will work for them. The incredible mentorship and leadership skills that Derek possesses is irrefutable. He truly is a key member of the team at Touchstone Ranch Recovery Center.
Ruth’s heart has belonged to the recovery community since childhood. Her parents were in recovery and her brothers were struggling with addiction, so Ruth knew that she wanted to be part of the solution. She lost one brother to an overdose on 12/26/2002 and her other brother is currently struggling with addiction. However, Ruth’s parents have lived in recovery for over 30 years.
Ruth studied Addiction Counseling for two years before transferring to a Bachelor of Science in Psychology program, which she completed in 2013. Ruth is currently finishing her 60 hour Master of Clinical Mental Health Counseling degree at Tarleton State University. She will graduate in May 2017.
Ruth has experience in the addiction treatment field, with at-risk youth, volunteering with CASA, and volunteering at a reduced cost and free counseling center. She has also served as a non-ordained assistant youth pastor in an at-risk youth program. Ruth has been happily married for ten years to her loving husband, and has five children- four daughters and a son. In her free time, she enjoys playing softball and video games with her children and reading current research in the counseling field. Ruth is a heavily involved mother and wife and believes in staying focused while working to improve the future.
Beth Mewhinney, M.Ed., LPC
Beth Mewhinney is a licensed professional counselor at Cross Timbers Family Services in Stephenville. She earned her master’s degree in guidance and counseling at Tarleton State University in 1990, and has been working with survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault and abuse for nineteen years. Beth was born and raised in Arlington, Virginia, and has lived in Stephenville since 1986. She has two grown daughters and four grandchildren. She enjoys bringing a support group to Touchstone for women or men who have been in an abusive relationship. It is exciting to watch the group participants visibly improve as they thrive in the therapeutic country setting, and begin to make the necessary changes to remain clean and sober and to have healthier relationships.
Admissions/ Insurance Specialist
Misty has been in the medical field for over 20 years and has always had a desire for helping people. Her driven, dedicated attitude has allowed her to become a very admiral and valuable member during her five-year tenure with Touchstone Ranch Recovery Center. She believes that Touchstone found her at a time that she needed to be found, and that it has become a part of who she is. In fact, Misty wouldn’t have it any other way. She has led the billing and insurance program for the last three and a half years
Misty grew up in small town Hico, Texas and is a wife, and superhero/ mother of five beautiful children. She currently attends Weatherford College in Weatherford, Texas, and is working to complete both her LCDC and Business Administration degree.
Janet grew up in Denver, Colorado. She fell in love with the small town feel when she decided to attend college at Peru State College in Peru, Nebraska. As a Bobcat, Janet was actively involved on campus and served as a member of the Cheerleading squad, Phi Alpha Theta, Kappa Delta Pi, Top Cat mentor program, and was also the Freshman English student instructor. She received her Bachelor of Science in Psychology in 2011.
Janet is no stranger to substance use disorder and has watched close family members fall into the addiction downward spiral. It is because of her past experiences associated specifically to alcoholism that Janet has chosen to inspire others to see their true worth and find their inner beauty that they do not believe exists. Spirituality and self-expression are two qualities that Janet finds to be important attributes in life.
Janet’s strong interpersonal, dynamic, and passionate personality coupled with her extensive background complement the rest of the talented Touchstone Ranch Recovery Center team.
Cameron was born and raised in El Paso, TX and attended college at New Mexico State University. She has had plenty of personal experience in the world of recovery. In fact, Cameron was once a client here at Touchstone! She has been clean and sober since February 2, 2015, and has since been passionate about helping other recovering addicts achieve sobriety.
Cameron believes that Touchstone Ranch Recovery Center played a big part in saving her life, and loves seeing the program work in other people’s lives too. As a member of the team, she is constantly reminded of where she came from and who she is now. Cameron openly tells everyone she encounters that she is forever grateful for our program.
Cameron grew up riding horses and plans on going back to school to study Therapeutic Horsemanship in hopes of some day running her own Equine Therapy program.
Ethan came to Touchstone over two years ago because of his strong passion to make a difference in a person’s life. He is currently attending Tarleton State University and is working towards his Bachelor of Science in Communication with a teacher’s certification. Originally from a small town in Oklahoma, Ethan has adapted well to the community and family-feel atmosphere.
Ethan’s talent in the kitchen has received raved reviews as he aspires to not only prepare delicious food, but also healthy, well-balanced meals. He loves every single day that he is at Touchstone Ranch Recovery Center. In his free time, Ethan enjoys spending time with his beautiful wife Stephanie, and their dog Miko.
